OUR FIRST US EXPORT..... We have had a number of enquiries from the US recently for garden art and to save the cost of shipping our metal pictures to customers there we decided to try and find a company based in America who could print the digital file for us and ship directly to customers. Unfortunately, after taking an order from our first US customer we were let down by our Supplier who felt unable to guarantee the art for outdoor use as we do with our panels printed in the UK. We therefore decided to honour the price we had quoted our customer for the locally printed metal and produce one here and ship to her.
Nicole Tillman from Kansas sent us a lovely beach scene which we really felt had the potential to “shine” when enhanced and printed onto metal. We were going to almost 4 ft wide (45ins x 30ins) and to enlarge to these dimensions we had to give the photo a “paint style”. Nicole asked us to remove the kayak on the sea and a rucksack on the beach. We “tidied” the scene up a bit more and gave it a Twilight look to it by adding a band of red sunset colour to it then brought out the blue of the sea and the pale gold of the sand. Nicole was great to work with as she asked us to do whatever we would do to the picture if it was ours! We had great fun and were really pleased with the finished metal panel which is now on display beside her swimming pool! Nicole said.....

Mr and Mrs Harris from Worcestershire have one of our garden canvases next to their patio. They tell us that even with leaving it outside all year round, and especially after the cold and snows this winter, the picture is still as bright and vibrant as when they first had it fitted. Seen from their lounge on a grey day it really brightens up the garden!
John Price, Cheshire
We met John Price and his family on our stand at Grand Designs Live at the NEC where we were showcasing our “Silver” pictures, bamboo prints and metal art. Many visitors to the show were impressed with the uniqueness of the silver and the way that it changes appearance in different lighting conditions. The photo John sent us was of some autumn trees against a lovely blue sky background (left) and he asked whether we could create a piece of personalised art from the photo to match their lounge colour scheme.
Armed with his initial ideas and requirements we finally came up with this striking picture making sure that the colours in the tree picked up exactly the colour of the paint on his walls (thanks to the Dulux colour chart!) and the gold from existing picture frames (above right). We also wanted the picture to blend with the leather sofas and the brick wall. Silver was a great medium to print on especially when lit from above as John has done. The art was mounted onto block board ready for hanging. He has very kindly allowed us to show these images of his art in his lounge on our website and to include his kind comments.....

Mr Daniels ordered a metal picture for his garden using his own photograph of an island in the Maldives. A lovely way of keeping holiday memories alive! Unfortunately when the picture reached him there was a problem which appeared to have been missed in production. Whilst we always try to ensure that everything we send out is perfect sometimes we slip up! However we quickly replaced the blistered panel and refunded Mr Daniels return postage costs, still managing to get the new picture to him in time for his wife’s birthday!

Nigel Peterken
Woodenzone (www.woodenzone.com) is the UK's premiere collection of Natural Driftwood Sculpture from the wildest beaches of New Zealand. Collected and prepared by Nigel Peterken, who exhibited at the three main RHS Flower Shows this summer. Nigel has enhanced his stand with two beautiful banner style pictures which he bought from us earlier in the year. He has now finished exhibiting at Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace Flower Shows 2009 and won awards for his stand design and quality at both shows. He tells us he was really impressed with the quality of the prints and they still look brand new after all sorts of weather! The photos he sent us were stunning and the judges said they thought they added an extra dimension in helping explain what the wood is and where it comes from. Gillian sent us one of her photos and we enlarged it to a HUGE dimensions to cover up an ugly wall just centimetres away from her conservatory. Gill has sent us this photo (right) of her art in situ and tells us that she has painted the back wall terracotta and is probably going to place a planter of foliage either side of the picture to give it some depth. We think it looks stunning and are sure the planting will make it look even more like a “room with a view”! What an amazing way to show off your holiday photos!

We took three photographs that Stephen had taken on his travels to New Zealand and reproduced them on Metal Panels enlarging them all to over a metre high. Because one photo was slightly out of focus and wouldn’t enlarge sharply we suggested a “painted effect” to the picture. Stephen emailed us after the pictures arrived and said......
“Thank you so much. Though I say it myself, they are good, aren’t they....... At first sight, I was a bit dubious of the trees picture because, whilst I had originally decided that the out-of-focus element would work, it looked “wrong” when I unwrapped it; however, I realised, as soon as I propped it up in its due place for a proper look, that I had fallen into the old theatrical trap with stage scenery – if it looks ‘wrong’ close up, it will be ‘right’ when put into correct perspective..... and that is how it proves to be. By contrast, the Sea picture works best BECAUSE of its sharpness........ The train – what can I say, it really works!....."
